Irving ISD Students Become Homeless for a Night

Homelessness in 2012 comes in many forms. The effects of the recession and natural disasters account for the plight of many families in America today. From 9:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M. on the evening of November 30, high school students, faculty and administrators in the Irving ISD will be spending the night outdoors at the Irving branch of the YMCA for the benefit of raising awareness about the homeless. All proceeds from this school district event will go to Family Promise of Irving (FPI).

FPI is a non- profit program providing temporary shelter for families, assisting them in financial planning, job searches, finding permanent housing and foremost, a way for their children to remain in public school. TXU Energy is providing kits and operating the poverty simulation for this 2012 event. Other Irving businesses have signed on as additional sponsors.
