Irving Mom Arrested For Intoxication Manslaughter

The Irving Police Department is currently investigating a fatality accident that occurred yesterday, March 29, at approximately 8:05 p.m. Crystal Suniga, 30, of Irving, was driving a 2003 Honda Pilot SUV eastbound in the 1500 block of E. Pioneer Drive. Suniga was traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control of her car and crashed into two parked vehicles in the driveway of a private residence. Suniga’s car then rolled onto its side and came to rest against a house. The parked cars were unoccupied at the time of the crash.

Two passengers in the car, Suniga’s 10-year-old and 14-year-old sons, Ricardo Hernandez and Angel Reyes, were found deceased at the scene. Another passenger, Suniga’s 16-year-old son, suffered a serious injury and was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital. A fourth passenger, Suniga’s 12-year-old daughter, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. Suniga also suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital. Officers at the scene believed alcohol and speed were contributing factors in the crash; therefore, a DWI investigation was initiated. Due to the severity of the incident, a mandatory blood draw was required. The blood draw was taken from Suniga at the hospital and submitted to the lab for analysis. Suniga was arrested and remotely booked into the Dallas County Jail on two counts of Intoxication Manslaughter, two counts of Injury to a Child and one count of Intoxication Assault.

The investigation is still ongoing; therefore, limited information is available.
