Thousands of patrons take advantage of many low-cost activities at city facilities to beat the summer heat every year. Now that summer is here, residents are reminded about the many ways to find refuge from the Texas sun.
Spray Parks
Splash for hours at a time at the spray parks located at Northwest Park, 2800 Cheyenne St., open 1 to 8 p.m. (closed Tuesday) and Southwest Park, 2800 Shady Grove Road from 1 to 8 p.m. (closed Monday). Spray park use is free to the public.
Swim at one of the universally accessible aquatic centers. View aquatic center hours and locations at cityofirving.org/parks-and-recreation.

Water Aerobics
Year-round aquatics classes are offered at North Lake Aquatic Center, 5001 N. MacArthur Blvd. Participate in a single class for as little as $24 a month or $39 a month for unlimited access to all the water aerobics sessions except Aqua Pilates. Weight Management

Aqua Pilates
Enjoy the benefits of Pilates in the comfort of water. Aquatic strength training, abdominal work and power walking included in each class. Deep Water Dynamics
The North Lake Aquatic Center offers a program intended to improve flexibility, overall aerobic fitness, coordination and to develop muscle strength as well as cardiovascular endurance. Minimal swimming skills and water comfort level are recommended. Monthly fee is $39.
