Lone Star Youth Orchestra Opens Season on 11/5

Irving, TX; (November, 2014) The Lone Star Youth Orchestra (LSYO) opens its 2014-2015 Season on Wednesday, November 5 at 7:00 pm at the Irving Arts Center.  The Lone Star Youth Orchestra opens the season with a flourish as we explore well known overtures and fanfares! Featuring the music of Carmen Suite No 1 by Bizet and Quest for the Grail by Mogensen, this is a concert that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seats!

 

Based in Irving, TX, the Lone Star Youth Orchestra is the only tuition-free youth orchestra in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The LSYO consists of middle school and high school students from over fourteen (14) metroplex school districts. These talented youths are given the opportunity to supplement and enhance their music education by learning symphonic literature through high-quality orchestral and ensemble training with the very best in the field. Our organization passionately stands by our belief that quality music education should be available to students of all socioeconomic levels.

The Lone Star Youth Orchestra is one component of the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra’s many educational initiatives. Under the direction of Robert Carter Austin, the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra has a record of excellent artistic presentation and a strong commitment to music education.

 

After two years of creative planning, the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra formed the Lone Star Youth Orchestra (LSYO) in 1999. The youth orchestra experience is one of the most pivotal pre-college experiences for talented high school instrumentalists. Membership in the LSYO is open to all middle and high school string, woodwind, brass, and percussion players.

 

Single tickets are available by phone or at the door.  Ticket pricing is $6.50 per student and $13.50 for adults.  All seating is general admission. Concert occurs on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at 7:00PM at the Irving Arts Center’s Carpenter Hall.
