Nimitz High School student-athlete Peyton Graber named October One Irving High School Athlete of the Month

Nimitz High School senior Peyton Graber was presented the One Irving High School Athlete of the Month Award on Oct. 24 at the school’s pep rally for the Irving vs. Irving Nimitz football game.

The One Irving High School Athlete of the Month Award recognizes student-athletes in Irving high schools for their athletic and academic accomplishments, as well as involvement in the community. Student-athletes are nominated for the monthly award by school officials.

Joy Engeldinger, Nimitz volleyball coach, nominated Peyton for the award.

“Peyton is enthusiastic and has a positive attitude that makes her presence a pleasure,” Engeldinger said. “She has been diligent and a very sincere student whose sheer hard work is a constant source of motivation for other students in and out of the classroom.”

Peyton is ranked No. 2 in her senior class at Nimitz High School, is Suma Cum Laude and has also won individual awards for English, science and math. She has been a member of the National Honor Society for the past two years.

Outside of the classroom, Peyton is a three-year letterman and has led the Nimitz volleyball team in kills and aces this year. She has played club volleyball for three years. Peyton is also a member of the Nimitz Viking Crew, the school’s spirit group.

In the community, Peyton is active in her church and has won the presidential award for service hours.

The One Irving High School Athlete of the Month Award is presented by the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce’s One Irving campaign and sponsored by Toyota of Irving and ESPN Dallas.
