Irving High School Wrestling Wins District

The Irving Tiger Wrestling team sent both their JV and Varsity teams to Grand Prairie to compete in the District Tournament. It was a great weekend of wrestling as both teams experienced success. The JV wrestling team had only 9 guys competing and 6 of them medaled. Placing 2nd on JV were Bryan Valle and Elpidio Cardenas. Placing 3rd for the JV team were Martin Jimenez, Alex Barahona, Gabriel Amador, and Brian Jimenez. On the Varsity side the Tigers continued the success and earned their 1st District Championship in over 17 years. Trailing by 20 points and entering the Championship Rounds, the Tigers did everything they needed to do to clinch the District title by winning 8 of the 14 weight classes. The following wrestlers earned a trip to the Regional Tournament that takes place this upcoming Friday and Saturday at Allen High School: Dillon Ross (who placed 4th at Heavy weight) and Morris Shell (who placed 2nd at 170).
