City of Irving picks Garfield as developer for Convention Center hotel

The Irving City Council has selected Garfield Public/Private LLC to be the developer for the city’s headquarters hotel at the Irving Convention Center.

The hotel will have roughly 350 guest rooms and more than 16,000 square feet of ballroom and meeting space.

The project is slated to break ground in February 2016, the city said in a press release.

“It has always been a high priority to not just get it done, but to get it done right,” Irving Mayor Beth Van Dyne said in the release. “The strength of Garfield as a developer and the proven work of its architects, BOKA Powell, gives us great confidence that this hotel will fully complement our Convention Center and help ensure its continued success.”

Garfield said it and the city are working on the design-build method that will allow for construction to begin by while the design is still taking form.
