Irving ISD Named "Top Digital District" for Use of Cutting-Edge Technology

Irving ISD was named a top digital school district by the Center for Digital Education (CDE). According to the CDE's press release, Irving ISD was selected for our use of innovative technologies such as the 1:1 laptop initiative, STEM curriculum and flipped classroom instruction. "The survey recognizes exemplary school boards' and districts' use of technology to govern their district, communicate with students, parents and community and improve the learning environment and district operations," they wrote.

"We are elated to be recognized at the national level for our commitment to digital learning," said Angie Gaylord, Irving ISD's director of professional and digital development. "Receiving this kind of accolade is a testament to our digital instructional resources, our teachers and students. We always maintain our focus on preparing kids for their future in a competitive, global world," she says, "and this award honors that commitment."

The top-ten rankings are awarded to those school boards/districts that most fully implement technology benchmarks in the evolution of digital education, as represented in the survey questions. All U.S. public school districts are eligible to participate in the Digital School Districts Survey and Irving ISD earned a sixth place ranking in the large student population category, which was 12,000 or more students.
