Irving ISD had an excellent showing at the 9-6A tennis tournament earlier this month. The Nimitz girls finished in first place while the boys' team from Nimitz and the girls' team from MacArthur each finished in second place. Individual first-place finishes were earned by the Nimitz doubles team of Flor Rodriguez and Carolyn Bounsouyasana, and the Nimitz mixed doubles team of Hillary Nguyen and An Le. Other regional qualifiers include Maggie Martinez and Jareli Carrillo of Nimitz and Angely De Lac Roca, Ahmed Aouda and Julia Puch of MacArthur. The Class 6A Region II tennis tournament will be hosted in Waco on April 20 and 21.
