Irving-based Cheddar’s unveils new name and recipe contest

To recognize its scratch-cooking approach and handmade dishes, all 10 Dallas-areaCheddar’s Casual Cafés will convert toCheddar’s Scratch Kitchen in May. To celebrate the name change, there will be a recipe contest to encourage local guests to submit their best homemade side dish recipes for a chance to be added to the menu in the 10 DFW Cheddar’s restaurants.

The contest will run from May 7 to July 2. Patrons are asked to submit their favorite home-cooked side dish recipe to Cheddar’s, either in-restaurant or via email to brandteam@cheddars.com. A panel composed of Cheddar’s culinary and management team along with local dignitaries will choose one side dish to be featured on the menu of all 10 DFW-area Cheddar’s restaurants for six weeks. The winner will also receive a $250 Cheddar’s gift card.

In addition to the new logo and recipe contest, each restaurant will offer diners personalized recommendation cards from servers as well as take-home scratch recipes courtesy of Cheddar’s culinary team. Guests will also be treated to a time-lapse video showing the inner workings of the Cheddar’s kitchen – a space that is double the size of the average restaurant kitchen, with a team of cooks three times larger than the average kitchen team hand-selecting ingredients and preparing scratch-made dishes.

Cheddar’s was founded in 1979. As of March this year, Cheddar’s offers 160 company-owned and franchise locations in 29 states. The Irving Cheddar’s is at 700 LBJ Freeway Service Road, just east of MacArthur Boulevard.
