After 10 seasons at MacArthur, Brian Basil named Flower Mound head coach

Brian Basil, who spent the last 10 seasons as head coach for MacArthur, was approved by the Lewisville ISD board of trustees during a special meeting today.

"I am extremely excited about the opportunity to lead the Flower Mound football program," Basil said in a news release. "We have a vision in place to build a program that reflects the standards of excellence that define Flower Mound High School and Lewisville ISD. My goal is to assist all coaches and student-athletes in all of our athletic programs to reach a level of success on and off the field that contributes to their overall high school experience."

Before coaching the Cardinals, Basil was the defensive coordinator from 2002 to 2005. He began his coaching career as an assistant at Colleyville Heritage.

Basil takes over for Dane Johnson, who resigned in November after four seasons at Flower Mound.
