Nimitz, Singley Student Leaders Kick Off Special Program

The Singley Academy ambassadors leadership team and members of the Nimitz High School student council kicked off the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy program this month. This is an effort by the corporate owners of Chick Fil-A to influence young people to make a positive impact in the world. The kick-off program of events is held in September at more than 600 schools across the nation.

As part of the event, students participated in activities designed to help them get to know each other, think about their big dream in life, overcome their fears and realize they can be leaders in their schools and communities today. The culminating activity was packing 175 meals that were delivered to a local food bank. Students will meet monthly to work on leadership skills and will ultimately participate in a community service project.

"I believe we all benefit from this program," says Marlee Clark, adviser of the ambassadors program at Singley. "Not only do our students grow as leaders, but our community benefits from their outreach efforts from their projects now and with the skills they learn and will provide later in the future."
