The Irving ISD Athletic Department, in partnership with the Greater Irving Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce and ESPN Dallas, recognized Roxana Quintanilla, a senior at Irving High School, as the One Irving Scholar Athlete of the Month for September. The award is presented to a student who has shown extraordinary dedication and achievement in sports and in the classroom. Quintanilla is a member of the varsity track, cross country and softball teams. In addition, she is ranked in the top 25 percent of her class and is an Honor Roll and AP student. Roxanna is also a member of Tiger Guard and volunteers in the community by assisting with student registration at the beginning of the school year, with campus beautification projects and the Caring and Sharing program for families in need during the holidays. Her athletic accomplishments include qualifying for the regional track meet in the 400-meter race in 2016, winning JV district champion titles in the 400-meter and 1,600-meter race in 2014 and serving as the cross country and track team captain for two years.
