Irving nonprofits receive $25,000 from Sharers at Inaugural Share Tank Celebration

The Irving Share Tank Steering committee, a partnership of seven businesses and organizations, celebrated the conclusion of the inaugural Share Tank Program on December 7th at the Irving Arts Center.

“Share Tank provides a unique opportunity for nonprofits to polish their business model while gaining boardroom experience. This program serves as a bridge for engagement between our corporate residents and the local organizations helping our community’s needs,” said Mayor Beth Van Duyne.

Irving nonprofits were required to attend four half-day sessions that taught skills to promote and grow their organizations and to better assist those in need.  Upon completion, 27 nonprofits took part in Share Tank “Pitch Day”. Each organization had seven minutes to deliver their pitch for a chance to receive funding from businesses or “sharers”, to support their efforts.

During the celebration, all 29 nonprofit organizations that completed the inaugural Share Tank program will be recognized. These nonprofit organizations represent a variety of causes including homelessness, education, veteran’s assistance, healthcare, protective services and animal rescue.

“Sharers” included Vizient, Citi, Verizon, The Drake Family Foundation and an anonymous donor.

Eleven nonprofits received $25,000 in funding from the Sharers including:

All Things Made New
Brighter Tomorrows, Inc.
Emma’s House
Family Promise of Irving
Friends of the Irving Public Library
Holy Family of Nazareth Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul
Irving Heritage Society
Irving Schools Foundation
La Buena Vida Youth Leadership Foundation
Many Helping Hands
Mothers Abandoned and Widowed Charities

Details about the 2017 Share Tank program will be announced at the State of the City program featuring Mayor Beth Van Duyne on January 24th 6 – 9pm at the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas.
