The investigation into the tragic killing of a newborn baby has taken a significant turn as local law enforcement authorities released body camera footage from the day the infant was discovered in a hospital trash can. The disturbing incident, involving 19-year-old Alexee Trevizo, shocked the community in December 2022.
Investigators claim that Trevizo visited an Artesia hospital, complaining of severe back pain. She received treatment and was subsequently released. However, a few weeks later, she returned to the hospital with similar complaints. It was during this second visit that hospital staff members suspect Trevizo secretly gave birth and placed the baby inside a bathroom's trash can.
The distressing discovery was made by a custodian worker, who found the lifeless body of the newborn in the hospital bathroom's trash can. The medical examiner's examination revealed that the newborn's death was classified as a homicide, as the baby boy had air in his lungs, indicating he had been born alive.
After four months of investigation, authorities arrested Trevizo on May 10. She now faces charges of first-degree murder, child abuse, and tampering with evidence related to the tragic incident.
However, the latest development in the case is the release of body camera footage by the police.
