Renowned actor Steve Mize, a MacArthur High School graduate and Texas A&M alum, is making waves in the film industry with his exceptional performance in the independent crime-thriller, "PLEA." The film, directed by Brian McQuery, follows the gripping story of a man seeking justice for his wife's murder after spending 20 years wrongfully imprisoned.

In "PLEA," Mize portrays Tom Heeley, the husband of a woman whose rape and murder led to the wrongful conviction of an innocent man. Released from prison after new evidence surfaces, Heeley becomes consumed by the quest for justice. Despite facing resistance from law enforcement, he persists in his pursuit until a shocking turn of events puts the prosecutor's life on the line.

Brian McQuery, the writer-director of "PLEA," chose Mize to lead the cast, recognizing the actor's ability to bring depth and authenticity to the challenging role. The film also features notable performances from Heather Langenkamp, Anne-Marie Howard, and Eddie Kehler.

Mize's dedication to the role is evident, as he underwent a physical transformation, gaining 30 pounds and growing a scraggly beard. The actor tapped into his own dark side to deliver a powerful and memorable performance that has resonated with audiences across the country.

Since its release on the festival circuit this summer, "PLEA" has received acclaim and numerous awards, including Best Film honors. Mize, in particular, has been recognized for his outstanding portrayal of Tom Heeley, winning Best Actor at the FirstGlance in Philadelphia and Outstanding Actor at the Treasure Coast Int’l in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

The film continues to make waves this fall, with official screenings scheduled in Arizona, Illinois, and Las Vegas. Audiences nationwide have responded positively to Mize's portrayal of a conflicted character seeking love and hope in the face of injustice.
