Second Man Charged in Connection with January Fentanyl Death in North Richland Hills

Steven Douglas Strinko and Gary Adam Hughes

On Thursday, May 16, detectives from the North Richland Hills Police Department (NRHPD), with assistance from the Fort Worth Police Department, arrested Steven Douglas Strinko in connection with a fentanyl poisoning death that occurred in January 2024. Strinko was charged with Murder under Texas Penal Code 19.02 (b)(4). He was booked into the North Richland Hills Joint Detention Facility before being transported on May 17 to the Tarrant County Correctional Facility, where a bond of $75,000 was set. He remains in custody.

This arrest follows the earlier detention of Gary Adam Hughes on March 3, 2024, for the same offense related to the investigation. Hughes is also held at the Tarrant County Correctional Facility with a bond set at $300,000.

The charges come after the passing of new legislation on September 1, 2023, which states that an individual can be charged with murder if they knowingly manufacture or deliver fentanyl resulting in death.
