Denton Police Arrest Third Suspect in May 25 Fatal Shooting

The Denton Police Department has arrested a third suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on May 25. The incident took place in the 3200 block of W. Windsor Drive.

On that date, the male driver of a pickup truck was parked when three men—Zachary Lowe, 34; Riley Clowers, 24; and River Williams, 25—forced him out of the vehicle at gunpoint. Williams then entered the passenger side of the truck with a firearm. The driver re-entered the truck and attempted to drive away with Williams still inside. During a struggle for the gun, both the driver and Williams were shot.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation revealed that 31-year-old Daniel Butureza, of Newark, was also involved. Butureza assisted in the aggravated assault by blocking the pickup truck from escaping.

Because Williams died during the commission of the aggravated assault, arrest warrants for murder were issued for Butureza, Lowe, and Clowers. Butureza was arrested in Haslet on Thursday afternoon and is currently in the City of Denton Jail with bond not yet set.

Lowe was arrested on Tuesday and is held in the Denton County Jail on a $250,000 bond. Clowers, arrested on May 25, is in the Denton County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Detective Logan Miller at (940) 349-8156. To anonymously report a tip, please call Denton County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-388-TIPS (8477) or visit www.dentoncountycrimestoppers.com.
