Euless Woman Arrested for Attempted Drowning of Child in Alleged Hate Crime

Elizabeth Wolf

On Sunday, May 19, 2024, at approximately 5:44 p.m., Euless Police responded to a disturbance at an apartment complex pool in the 2500 block of Highway 360. Witnesses reported that a highly intoxicated woman attempted to drown a child and argued with the child’s mother.

Upon arrival, officers identified the woman as 42-year-old Elizabeth Wolf, who was attempting to leave the scene. Wolf was arrested for Public Intoxication.

Further investigation revealed that the 32-year-old mother of the victims claimed Wolf questioned her about her background and if the two children playing at the pool were hers. Wolf allegedly grabbed the woman's 6-year-old son, causing a scratch on his finger, and then forced her 3-year-old daughter underwater. The mother managed to rescue her daughter, who was coughing up water and yelling for help. Euless Medics evaluated both children and found them to be medically cleared.

The mother reported that Wolf made racial comments and questioned her American citizenship. Euless Detectives collected statements from the mother and witnesses at the scene.

Wolf faces charges of Attempted Capital Murder and Injury to a Child. The Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office accepted the cases. The Euless Police Department has recommended the offense be considered a hate crime.
