Irving Tactical Units Resolve Standoff, Arrest Suspect in South Irving Domestic Violence Case

On Thursday afternoon, June 27, 2024, Irving Police officers responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 1800 block of Franklin St. in South Irving (between E. Vilbig St and E. Oakdale Rd).

Upon arrival, officers encountered a victim who had sustained visible injuries from an alleged assault by the suspect. The victim reported that the suspect had threatened her life during the night and assaulted her again the following morning when he pointed a pistol at her head.  He then hit and strangled her.  According to the police report, the suspect is an ex-boyfriend of the 30-year-old victim.

Domestic violence investigators were contacted, leading to the issuance of arrest warrants for the suspect. A coordinated response involving patrol, traffic, and tactical officers ensued. After a standoff at the home, tactical units successfully located and apprehended the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Joseph Bailey.

Bailey now faces charges of Domestic Violence Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Domestic Violence Assault Impeding Breath or Circulation.

The investigation is ongoing.
