At around 9:25 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, the Lewisville Fire Department and Police Department responded to a pedestrian being struck at the McDonald's in the 700 block of Main Street.
The incident occurred when the driver of a pickup truck was backing out of a parking spot, accelerated abruptly, and struck a man walking out of the restaurant.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner identified the victim as 81-year-old George Edward Stepp from Flower Mound.
The driver of the truck was taken to Medical City Lewisville hospital.
The Lewisville Police Department is investigating all possible causes for the crash, including a potential medical issue for the driver that may have caused the sudden acceleration.
