At 11:33 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, 2024, Fort Worth officers responded to a shooting incident in East Fort Worth at the intersection of Castleman St. and Wiman Dr. They discovered two victims at the scene: one female with a gunshot wound and a second victim who had suffered a medical emergency. Despite medical intervention, both victims succumbed to their injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner identified the deceased male victim as 26-year-old Marcus Martin Jr. from San Diego, California, who sustained a gunshot wound to the back. Two additional victims sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and were also transported to local hospitals for treatment.
The shooting occurred following a gathering of approximately 200-300 individuals on Castleman St., where fireworks were reportedly being discharged toward nearby residences. Detectives are investigating multiple suspects believed to be responsible for firing shots during the incident.
