Dalworthington Gardens Incident Leads to Fatal Shooting During Pursuit

On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, the Dalworthington Gardens Department of Public Safety received a notification from the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney's Office regarding threats of violence and death against a household in Dalworthington Gardens. The individual involved had an active warrant for Assault Serious Bodily Injury Family Violence with Previous Conviction, was reportedly armed with multiple firearms, and had made threats to kill law enforcement officers. Consequently, the residence was placed on Close Patrol, with officers checking the location multiple times per shift.

On Friday, July 12, 2024, at approximately 2:27 a.m., officers conducting a routine check on the residence encountered the wanted individual. When officers attempted to stop the individual, they did not comply and fled in a motor vehicle. A pursuit ensued, with assistance from officers in the Town of Pantego and other agencies. The chase extended to the City of Midlothian in Ellis County, where the individual rammed two pursuing patrol units and fired a weapon at officers. Multiple officers returned fire, striking the individual.

Following the incident, medical intervention was performed, and the individual was transported to a local hospital by ambulance, where they later succumbed to their injuries. The identity of the individual is being withheld pending family notification. No officers were injured during the incident. The Texas Rangers are conducting the investigation.
