A Tarrant County jury has found 51-year-old Israel Santiago guilty of Sexual Assault of a Child. According to the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney's Office, he has sentenced to Life in prison.
In July of 2020, just 3 months after being paroled for a homicide conviction, Santiago sexually assaulted a 15-year-old family member. Witnesses later discovered the offense had been recorded on a home camera and turned it over to police.
The jury heard evidence that Santiago had previously been convicted of several family violence assaults, driving while intoxicated, and murdering his wife in front of their children. After the verdict, the victim, in her impact statement, told Santiago how he had disrupted her young life and thanked the jury for their strong verdict.
The case was prosecuted by Amy Allin and Allenna Bangs. The Fort Worth Police Department worked on the case.
