McKinney Police Assist in Capture of Murder Suspect in Houston

Dylon Reanard Adams

On July 12, 2024, McKinney Police Officers, who were in Houston to assist with public safety efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, played a crucial role in the arrest of 22-year-old Dylon Reanard Adams. Adams had been wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of 39-year-old Codie Girouard, which occurred on February 19, 2022.

Houston Police Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 8400 block of Hearth Drive, where they found Girouard with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics. Investigators determined that Girouard had arranged to meet Adams and another suspect, 27-year-old Joshua Gerard Jackson. Upon Girouard's arrival, he was shot by the suspects, who subsequently fled the scene. Surveillance footage of a black Nissan Rogue with front-end damage was released on February 23, 2022, as part of the investigation.

Joshua Gerard Jackson was arrested on July 6, 2022, and charged in connection with the crime, while Adams remained at large until his recent capture. On July 12, 2024, the HPD South Gessner Crime Suppression Team, alongside McKinney Police Officers, apprehended Adams during a traffic stop in Houston.
