19-Year-Old Charged with Murder After Shooting at Irving Hotel

On July 12, 2024, at approximately 8:50 P.M., Irving Police Officers were dispatched to 4800 Plaza Dr, Irving, TX, following a disturbance report at the TownePlace Suites Hotel near DFW Airport. The hotel clerk requested the removal of guests due to multiple noise complaints. As officers were en route, the nature of the call escalated to a shooting incident.

According to reports, a physical altercation occurred inside a hotel room involving a 19-year-old male, identified as Cedric Jeremiah Campbell, and two females. During the confrontation, Campbell shot one of the females, 19-year-old Zenri McGee of Forney. After the shooting, Campbell fled the scene on foot but was subsequently apprehended in a nearby drainage ditch.

McGee was transported to Baylor Grapevine Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. Campbell was arrested and taken to the Irving Jail, facing charges of Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. On July 14, he was transferred to the Dallas County Jail, where he is currently held on a bond of $1,200,000.
