Juvenile Suspect Arrested for Armed Robbery at Springtown McDonald’s

At approximately 6:50 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2024, the Springtown Police Department received a 9-1-1 call regarding a disturbance at the McDonald’s in the 400 block of East Hwy. 199. Upon arrival, officers detained one individual who was later released as he was not involved in the incident.

Witnesses described a second subject, identified as the suspect, as a white male with red hair, wearing a blue hoodie, white t-shirt, and blue jeans. The suspect allegedly attempted to rob a victim in the parking lot while brandishing a firearm before fleeing on foot toward Springtown Park.

In response, officers initiated a search for the suspect and implemented a shelter-in-place order for part of the city, lasting approximately 90 minutes for public safety. The shelter-in-place was lifted at around 8:45 p.m. The Springtown Police Department thanked the Parker County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance and the public for their cooperation.

Following an investigation, the suspect was identified and apprehended by Azle Police Officers on Tuesday, July 16. He remains in custody pending a bond hearing on a charge of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, and was found to be armed at the time of arrest. The suspect, a 15-year-old juvenile, is also connected to other offenses in a neighboring jurisdiction. Due to his minor status, his identity cannot be released. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.
