In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 10, the district emphasized that the Irving Police Department and the Irving ISD Security Department had promptly begun an investigation and concluded that the threat appeared to be a hoax. The threat, which has been circulating mainly in West Texas, is not linked to any Irving ISD schools.
The district acknowledged that its middle schools are named after state heroes and two of its high schools after national heroes, which are common names shared by multiple schools across the state and country. This, the statement noted, can sometimes lead to confusion regarding the schools involved in social media rumors.
The statement concluded by reinforcing that no credible threat had been identified, and there was no cause for alarm. The district affirmed its commitment to maintaining a safe environment and assured the community that appropriate actions would always be taken to ensure campus safety.
