Suspect Shot by Officer During Violent Struggle While Serving Felony Warrant in Saginaw

SAGINAW, Texas — An officer-involved shooting occurred Thursday morning during an attempt to serve a felony warrant, according to the Saginaw Police Department.

Officers responded around 7:50 a.m. May 7 to a residence in the 1300 block of North Creek Drive to arrest a male subject on an outstanding felony warrant.

Police said the suspect resisted arrest, leading to a physical confrontation with officers. During the struggle, one officer discharged their weapon, striking the suspect.

Officers immediately rendered aid until medical personnel arrived. The suspect was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. His condition has not been released.

The Texas Rangers have been called in to conduct an independent investigation, which will be presented to the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office. The police department will also conduct an internal administrative review.

Officials said the investigation is in its early stages, and no additional information is being released at this time.
