Irving locks up 220 jobs with Trend Micro HQ relocation

Trend Micro Inc., a Japan-based technology security firm (TYO: 4704), plans to move its U.S. headquarters and 220 jobs to Irving later this year. It’s part of a larger trend of out-of-state companies looking at the relocation possibilities in North Texas, said John Bonnot, director of business recruitment for the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce.

“There are a lot of corporate headquarters out there in the market right now,” Bonnot said. “Companies are looking at efficiencies and the cost of living in Texas. Corporate relocation opportunities are at an all-time high in terms of tenants looking at their options.”

Trend Micro leased about 52,000 square feet of office space at Las Colinas II at 225 E. Las Colinas Blvd. The initial phase of the project will bring about 185 employees from the company’s sales operation in Arlington to the building this summer.

During the second phase of the relocation, Trend Micro will bring about 25-35 employees from its California corporate office by the end of the year.
