Celebration to Honor Jack Singley Has Been Scheduled

The Irving ISD Board of Trustees has scheduled a special retirement celebration for 3-5 p.m. May 31 at The Academy of Irving ISD to honor Jack E. Singley, retired superintendent of schools, for his 44 years of service with IISD.

 

Singley joined Irving ISD in 1965 as math teacher at MacArthur High School. From 1965 to 1988 he served as teacher, principal, personnel director, and assistant superintendent for administration. He was appointed Superintendent of Schools in October 1988 and during Singley’s tenure, eight schools were added to Irving ISD, the district increased from 2,309 employees in 1988 to more than 4,177, and peak enrollment grew from 21,887 to approximately 33,233 students. Until announcing his retirement March 23, Singley was one of the longest-serving school superintendents in Texas.
