New York Company with Thousands of Employees Moving HQ To Irving Tx

A company with thousands of employees is moving its corporate headquarters to Irving, Texas.

Alkegen, a Tonawanda, N.Y., manufacturer of specialty materials, is set to move its corporate headquarters to North Texas, it said Monday. The company, which also announced it’s changing its name from Unifrax, plans to make the shift in the spring.

The company provides products around battery technologies, electric vehicles, filtration and specialty insulation materials. It has about 9,000 employees.

The company selected Williams Square in the Las Colinas area.  This facility will serve as the corporate headquarters and hub for the filtration and battery businesses.

"The decision to base our corporate, filtration and battery teams in Dallas demonstrates our commitment to growing the company and establishing Alkegen as a global leader focused on breakthrough technologies," said CEO John Dandolph in the company's statement. "A Dallas location will enable us to attract the best talent and more efficiently interact with customers anywhere in the world.

The change comes after the acquisition of a public company called Lydall in a deal that was tagged with a roughly $1.3 billion enterprise value when it was announced in June.

The company has 60+ manufacturing facilities globally.

The headquarters shift follows moves by many others in recent years — including financial-services firm Charles Schwab Corp. and infrastructure engineering giant AECOM.
