High School seniors Cindy Guevara (Singley Academy) and Harrison Nguyen (Nimitz High School) have been named Dell Scholars. They are among only 500 students from across the country to be awarded the prestigious recognition.

Through the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, each scholar will receive a $20,000 scholarship, a laptop and money for books. In addition to the monetary award, the Dell Scholars program provides key resources including a support network to help scholars succeed, confidential counseling services and financial-aid coaching.

Guevara plans to attend Tarleton State University and major in mathematics.

“I feel honored to have been awarded this scholarship,” she says. “I see this as a reward for my efforts over the past four years.”

Nguyen plans to major in computer science at the University of Texas at Austin.

“I have been applying for scholarships all year, and to see that my efforts are starting to pay off gives me a sense of pride. It is also very relieving because any financial aid I receive will help to pay for college,” says Nguyen. “I am grateful to have been awarded the Dell Scholarship. $20,000 is certainly going to help support me and my goals.”
