Grapevine Police Arrest Man in Connection with Woman's Murder at Grapevine Lake

Daniel Burch

Grapevine Police have apprehended a suspect believed to be responsible for the murder of Jennifer Holmes, whose body was discovered near the spillway at Grapevine Lake. Daniel Burch, 35 years old, is currently in custody, facing charges related to the violent death of Holmes, a resident of Lewisville.

According to Grapevine detectives, Burch confessed to his involvement in the incident during questioning. He revealed that an altercation between the close friends escalated while they were en route to the lake in the early morning hours of July 5. Burch pulled over on Fairway Drive, where multiple shots were fired at Holmes, resulting in her tragic demise. Subsequently, her body was transported and dumped in the waters of Grapevine Lake.

On the afternoon of July 6, a passerby made the chilling discovery of Holmes' lifeless body near the spillway. Promptly, Grapevine Police initiated an exhaustive investigation, which yielded crucial evidence. With the victim's identity confirmed on July 7, the focus of the probe shifted towards Burch, who had been residing with Holmes at the time of her untimely death.

After undergoing questioning by detectives, Burch was taken into custody and is currently being held at Tarrant County Jail, where he faces a murder charge. His bail has been set at $150,000.

Some of the evidence in this case was discovered more than a mile away from where the victim’s body was recovered. The thorough and extensive search by detectives, patrol officers and crime scene investigators in this case demonstrates the high level of dedication and compassion Grapevine officers and personnel have for the community and victims of crime.

"The Grapevine Police Department wants to thank everyone who aided in the investigation, including the Grapevine Fire Department, who also sent in a dive team to search for additional evidence, the Flower Mound Fire Department, Texas Parks & Wildlife and Army Corps of Engineers.", read a social media post by the Police officials.
