On September 1, 2023, at approximately 1:15 p.m., a Mansfield police officer initiated a traffic stop on a motorcycle traveling on northbound U.S. 287 Highway at speeds in excess of 120 mph.
Shortly after the pursuit began, the motorcycle veered out of control, causing it to wreck and slide into the median. The impact ultimately led to both the motorcycle and its operator falling from the bridge onto Debbie Lane below.
Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, and the motorcyclist was rushed to a nearby hospital by ambulance for treatment of his injuries. He is currently listed in serious condition.
Further investigation revealed that the motorcycle had been reported stolen out of Irving.
The crash remains under investigation.
