MacArthur Blvd Traffic Shifts to Two-Way Flow as Reconstruction Project Progresses

Starting October 18, significant changes in traffic flow will be in effect for MacArthur Boulevard, as part of the MacArthur Boulevard Reconstruction Project. The project, with a budget of $27.9 million, spans over two years and aims to enhance drainage, water system infrastructure, and the quality of streets.

From October 18, both north- and southbound lanes of MacArthur Boulevard, stretching from Rochelle Road to Northgate Drive, will be converted to two-way traffic. Southbound vehicles will be directed to one northbound lane, while northbound traffic will be limited to a single lane. Phase II of this project is set to continue through September 2024, weather permitting.

On October 24, a week later, all lanes of east- and westbound Northgate Drive at MacArthur Boulevard will be fully open to regular traffic.

Motorists are advised to explore alternate routes if possible and anticipate considerable traffic delays during this period.

Additionally, for those commuting near MacArthur High School, there will be an extra lane for student pick-up and drop-off on northbound MacArthur Boulevard, between South Coker Street and Sam Hill Street.
