In a dramatic turn of events on the evening of October 31, 2023, the Grand Prairie Police Department (GPPD) engaged in a vehicle pursuit involving a stolen vehicle, which ultimately made its way into Irving. Irving Police joined forces with GPPD to help detain the suspect. The situation escalated as the suspect drove erratically and against traffic in a high pedestrian area.
The high-speed pursuit continued into the streets of South Irving, with at least 8 law enforcement units chasing the suspect's small vehicle. Spectators along Rusdell Drive and Story Road witnessed the dramatic chase.
In an effort to safeguard the public, an Irving Police officer made a bold move by using their vehicle to disable the suspect's car in the 1900 block of Etain Road at Marta Dr intersection. Following the collision, both the officer and the suspect were transported to Baylor Irving Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. Both were subsequently released.
The suspect is now in custody under the jurisdiction of the Grand Prairie Police Department and is facing felony charges.
