Red Oak Man Shot By Brother, Officer Injured in Pursuit

On April 24, 2024, at approximately 5:54 PM, the Red Oak Police Department responded to a shooting incident at the Red Oak Town Village apartments in Ellis County, Texas. Authorities received reports that a man had been shot by his brother inside an apartment.

Upon arrival, officers found a male subject leaving the apartment's breezeway and attempted to detain him. The individual fled the scene in a black 2020 Ford Eco Sport, prompting a pursuit. During the chase, the suspect's vehicle collided with a patrol car in the apartment complex parking lot, ending the pursuit.

Emergency medical services were called to the scene to attend to the victim, the officer involved in the collision, and the suspect. The victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Methodist Dallas Medical Center for treatment. The officer received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries at the same medical facility.

After further investigation, the suspect, identified as Amari Nevaiah Wise, a 21-year-old from Glenn Heights, Texas, was apprehended and taken into custody. Wise faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault with serious bodily injury, aggravated assault on a public servant, and evading arrest/detention with a vehicle.

Wise will be held at the Red Oak Police Department pending arraignment on the charges. Following the arraignment process, he will be transferred to the Wayne McCollum Detention Center by the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office.
