Another Arrest in Irving Mother-Daughter Murder Case: Accomplice Apprehended for Aiding Fugitive

On April 30, 2024, the Irving Police Department arrested Escarleth Josett Mejia, 30, for "Hindering Apprehension of a Known Felon."

Mejia is currently held in custody at the Irving City Jail awaiting bond. She is accused of aiding Hector Vicente Paguada elude law enforcement and helping him flee the city after he murdered Juana Rodriguez, 55, and her daughter Nayeli Medina, 23, in January.  Additionally, INS requested a hold on Mejia due to being in the countty illegally.

Previous actions on the murder investigation

  • On January 25, two women, Nicolle Martinez Tome, 34, and Yudi Mabel Paguada-Ruiz, 30, were both apprehended and charged with "Tampering With or Fabricating Physical Evidence."
     
  • On February 20, 2024, Yeferi Josue Aguilera Hernandez, aged 32, was apprehended on charges of "Hindering Apprehension of a Known Felon."

Paguada remains at large, and authorities urge the community to remain vigilant. They advise against attempting to contact or apprehend Paguada but to immediately call 9-1-1 if his whereabouts are known.
