DFW Airport Launches Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard Program

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) has formally announced the launch of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard program. This initiative is designed to assist customers with less visible disabilities by providing them with a discreet way to indicate their need for extra help while traveling through the airport.

The program offers free sunflower lanyards to travelers with hidden disabilities. These disabilities can include a wide range of physical, visual, auditory, or neurological conditions that are not immediately apparent to others. By wearing the lanyard, travelers signal to trained airport employees that they may require additional assistance, understanding, or more time to navigate travel processes.

“DFW is committed to elevating and personalizing the customer experience for every traveler, and this program will help us provide a more inclusive, understanding, and enjoyable experience for those who need a little extra help at the airport,” said Maruchy Cantu, DFW Airport’s Executive Vice President for Administration, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. “One in six of the world’s population experience some form of disability, and DFW is committed to ensuring all our guests have access to the same exceptional travel experience regardless of physical or cognitive abilities. We are proud to offer this program and further extend the Texas spirit of hospitality and understanding.”

Travelers can obtain a sunflower lanyard in advance of coming to the airport by visiting https://www.dfwairport.com/sunflower. The preferred method is delivery by mail. However, when there is not sufficient time to allow for mail, lanyards are also available to be coordinated for pick up in person when ordered ahead of time. If picking up the same day as travel, customers are encouraged to allow additional time for commuting to the terminal of their departure.
