Irving Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Child Sexual Abuse

On June 6, 2024, 28-year-old Mario Flores of Irving was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison with no possbility of parole for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child Under 14.  

The case was procecuted by Brenna Buchanan and Blake Penfield.  

"Special Thanks to Investigators Tomicka McCloud, Natarsha Price, Laura Brakefield, and Joe Mundy who went above and beyond.", said the Dallas District Attorney's Office in a statement. 

The Irving Police Department investigated the case.  

The sentence was LIFE in prison day for day.  In Texas, "life in prison day for day" refers to a sentence where a person convicted of certain serious crimes must serve a mandatory minimum term of 30 years before becoming eligible for parole. This means that even if parole is granted after 30 years, it is not guaranteed, and the individual may end up serving the rest of their life in prison.
