Early Friday morning, on June 28, 2024, at approximately 1:27 AM, an Irving Police Officer initiated a pursuit after noticing a blue Kia Optima driving without lights in the vicinity of Carl Rd and E. Grauwyler Rd. The officer activated his patrol car lights in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop. Instead of complying, the driver accelerated and fled from the officer. Additional units were summoned, and a pursuit ensued.
The pursuit concluded when the suspect crashed into a concrete barrier. With the vehicle unoperable, the driver abandoned the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot. Irving officers gave chase and were able apprehended the suspect, identified as 17-year-old Joshua Osorio Manuel Daniel of Oak Cliff.
Upon investigation, it was determined that the Kia Optima had been reported stolen by the Dallas Police Department. In addition to charges related to evading arrest and unauthorized use of a vehicle, Joshua Osorio Manuel Daniel was found with in possession of narcotics. The suspect was also cited for multiple traffic violations observed during the pursuit.
