On July 4, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Dallas Police responded to a robbery in progress at the 2900 block of South Lancaster Road.
Preliminary investigations revealed that covert officers arrived at the scene, causing three suspects to flee from the back door of an illegal game room and jump a fence into the area where officers had gathered.
During the pursuit, one suspect pointed a gun at an officer. A struggle ensued, and the officer discharged his weapon, hitting the suspect.
Officers immediately administered first aid and called for Dallas Fire Rescue. The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The remaining two suspects fled but were apprehended by officers shortly after. No officers were injured during the incident.
The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office and the Office of Community Police Oversight have been notified. The investigation remains ongoing and is documented under case numbers 102381-2024, 102431-2024, and 102439-2024.
