Jaden Manning, a talented linebacker and running back from Mansfield Legacy High School, has decided to commit to the University of North Texas (UNT).

Manning made this choice after hearing many good things about UNT from his former teammate, Brandon Young Jr. Young, who now plays as a tight end for UNT, shared with Manning how the school felt like home and the benefits of staying close to family.

Manning visited the campus with Young a few times and found he really liked it, too. On Monday, Manning made his decision official on X, expressing his excitement about joining UNT.

The Mean Green Recruited Manning

The North Texas Mean Green recruited Jaden Manning, who stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs 220 pounds, primarily as a linebacker. As one of the more versatile players in the Dallas area last season, Manning made a significant impact on both sides of the ball.

He rushed for 405 yards and scored three touchdowns, showcasing his offensive skills. On defense, he recorded six sacks and forced three fumbles. Manning had a standout game against Woodrow Wilson, where he rushed for 207 yards and scored two touchdowns.

Although UTEP and several Football Championship Subdivision teams like Montana, Missouri State, Lamar, and Stephen F. Austin offered him scholarships, Manning chose North Texas. His decision boosts the North Texas Mean Green odds for a successful season ahead.

Jordan Davis and Justin Owens Instrumental in Manning’s Commitment

Jordan Davis, UNT's offensive coordinator, played a big role in bringing Jaden Manning to the team. Manning also got to know Justin Owens, the Mean Green's director of recruiting, during his visits. The coaches have mentioned that Manning could play either inside or outside linebacker as his skills develop. They also left the door open for him to play running back, given his versatility on the field.

Manning felt that North Texas was the best choice for him, citing the benefits of staying close to home and the supportive environment. He was one of two players to commit to UNT on Monday, with wide receiver Terrence Lewis from Bryan also joining the team. This brings the total number of commitments to five as UNT heads into the second season under coach Eric Morris.

Manning attended a summer camp at UNT and enjoyed the intense and motivating atmosphere created by the coaching staff. These factors played a key role in his decision to join the program.

The Takeaway

Jaden Manning’s commitment to the University of North Texas marks an exciting chapter for both him and the Mean Green football team. His impressive versatility and performance in high school have already set high expectations.

North Texas, with its supportive environment and close-knit community, seems to be the ideal place for Manning to develop his skills further. The addition of Manning and other talented recruits illustrates the promising direction of the program under Coach Eric Morris.

Fans can look forward to seeing how this new talent will contribute to team success in the upcoming season.
