Fort Worth Celebrates New Police Station in South Fort Worth

New FWPD facility to serve South Fort Worth Neighborhoods

On Monday, July 29, from 10 a.m. to noon, the newest Fort Worth Police Station, located at 3501 W. Risinger Road, will be celebrated with a grand opening and dedication ceremony. The event will feature a ribbon cutting and guided tours of the building. Overflow parking will be available at the Vivian J. Lincoln Library, located at 8829 McCart Ave.

The new facility replaces two outdated stations at 3128 W. Bolt St. and 7650 McCart Ave. It aims to enhance the Fort Worth Police Department's (FWPD) operational ability to serve the growing South Division community by improving facility efficiencies. Personnel housed at the new facility include South Division Patrol Officers, Neighborhood Police Officers, Detectives, Code Blue, Bike Unit, and Division Administration. The facility opened to the public on April 1.

The $20 million project was approved for funding in the 2018 Bond Program, with additional funds provided by the Crime Control & Prevention District. The building’s design includes a welcoming entry plaza and lobby, a prominent community room, roll call room, and office space.

Monday’s event will also feature the dedication of Gordon Huether’s artwork, Vision. The artwork aims to evoke ideas of clarity, transparency, awareness, and reflection, which are essential to effective police enforcement. The mirrored-finished stainless steel sphere is a representation of the entire Fort Worth community and the people who serve it.
