Francisco Loredo

On August 2, 2024, Francisco Loredo, 39, pleaded guilty to charges of Intoxication Manslaughter and Injury to a Child x 2. Loredo was sentenced to 15 years in prison with a deadly weapon finding.

The case stemmed from a tragic accident on March 6, 2021, at approximately 12:25 a.m. Jose Amezquita was driving alone northwest on Joaquin Dr. through the intersection of Ferguson Rd. when Loredo, driving with an adult passenger and three minor children, ran a red light. Loredo was speeding at 73 mph in a 40 mph zone when his vehicle collided with the driver’s side of Amezquita’s car. Amezquita died at the scene.

Investigators from the Dallas Police Department found a strong odor of alcohol on Loredo and initiated a DWI investigation. Toxicology results showed alcohol and active THC in his system. An open bottle of brandy was discovered in Loredo’s vehicle, and there were no child passenger safety seats present.
