On August 12, 2024, at approximately 2:40 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a report of an attempted kidnapping in the 16900 block of Old Pond Drive in Far North Dallas.
According to the preliminary investigation, a group of children were playing outside when a young Hispanic male in a white SUV approached them. The suspect asked one of the children to look at something in the back of his vehicle. The child fled, and witnesses reported that the suspect chased the child for a short distance before driving away.
Dallas Police are seeking the public’s help in locating the involved white Toyota 4Runner with Texas license plate number THS9209.
A second possible vehicle involved is a dark-colored Chevy pick-up truck.
UPDATE: On August 21st, the Dallas Police Department announced that the investigation has concluded. The investigation determined no attempted kidnapping offense occurred. No charges have been filed in this case.
