The Irving Arts Center is currently seeking Irving residents to serve as 2024-25 Community Grant Review Panelists. Residents interested in this role can either be nominated by others or self-nominate by completing an online application. The deadline for submissions is Friday, Sept. 6.
Eligible candidates are Irving residents with knowledge of the visual and/or performing arts, either as practicing artists, through other participation in the arts, or as regular attendees of arts events. Selected panelists will participate in a Zoom orientation before beginning their service.
The Irving Arts Board will appoint panelists from the pool of candidates in September, aiming for a group that reflects the diversity of Irving, with balanced representation in terms of expertise, experience, and knowledge of the arts.
Panelist Responsibilities
Panelists volunteer their time for a two-year term. They join other peer reviewers, including professional arts and nonprofit administrators and artists from across the state. Community panelists are encouraged to attend events hosted by funded organizations each year before the review process begins in June, with tickets provided by the Irving Arts Center.
Panelists do not make final funding decisions but review grant applications online, rank them based on quality and merit, and provide feedback to the applicants and the Arts Board. The Arts Board then uses this guidance to make funding decisions.
