Irving's Central Fire Station Reopens After 39 Years

Irving's Rebuilt Central Fire Station, known as "Central Station," officially reopened on August 21, 2024, at 7 p.m., with Engine 51 going "in-service." This milestone marks the end of years of collaborative effort among the Irving Professional Fire Fighters Association, the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), the Irving Fire Department, City Council, and City Management.

Originally operational from 1932 to 1985, the historic Central Station later served various purposes, including as a health clinic, a book depot, and leased office space. In 2019, the Irving Fire Fighters, in partnership with IAFF, commissioned a study to assess the feasibility of reopening the station. The study, completed and presented in 2020, led to the decision to proceed with the reopening.
