Megabus Ends All Texas Services

North American city-to-city bus provider Megabus has announced the discontinuation of its services in Texas. As of August 16, Megabus will no longer operate routes to and from Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston.

"Unfortunately, Megabus had to make the difficult business decision to discontinue our service to/from Texas," said Colin Emberson, vice president of commercial for Megabus, in a press release. "We are still offering trips to more than 500 cities in North America and we're always looking for opportunities to provide new routes in the future."

In addition to Texas, Megabus has canceled other routes across the country, including services between New York, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.

The service changes follow the voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings initiated by Coach USA, the parent company of Megabus, in early June. On August 14, Coach USA announced that the bankruptcy court had approved the acquisition of Megabus Retail by Bus Company Holdings U.S. LLC, an affiliate of The Renco Group, a private holding company based in New York City.
